Wix or WordPress is not a brand question. It is a question of starting point: the restaurant already lives on Wix, it already lives on WordPress, or the website does not exist yet. Each case asks for something different. This guide does not cite searches per month. On 24 September 2026 the volumes API returned no data, and we do not fill that gap with a figure.
The owner chooses the platform, and the SERP mixes tutorials with agency pages
Whoever searches for this is usually the person who runs the venue and has to decide where the menu, the booking and the domain live. The SERP archived on 12 September 2026, on Google Spain, splits that decision onto two different shelves.
For “página web para restaurantes” the result is mixed: the Wix page for restaurants appears in the organic top, alongside a builder that advertises a free website (resmio) and agency pages. For “diseño web wordpress restaurantes” the result is do-it-yourself: theme listicles, WordPress.org, Envato, tutorials, YouTube videos and a Reddit thread. There is almost no agency offer. For “diseño web para restaurantes”, the AI summary cites Wix Restaurants next to agencies. The source of that snapshot: the SERP archive of 12 September 2026.
What that top 10 does not sort is the venue’s starting point. A template listicle does not say whether it is worth staying on the Wix the team already updates. A Wix page does not say when the WordPress you already have is the right place. This guide stays on that decision.
Wix fits when the restaurant is already on Wix and the team updates it
Wix fits if the website is already published there, the domain points at that account and someone at the venue changes the dish of the day without asking for help. In that case the work does not start by moving. It starts by looking at whether the menu can be read on a phone, whether the booking is made without leaving the site and whether the Google listing opens the same address.
Wix’s own page appears in the SERP for “página web para restaurantes” because the builder competes for that search. That does not turn Wix into the answer for a venue that already has another website, or into the answer for one that does not have one yet. If the team already knows how to edit it and the page loads the menu and the phone number, you can work on that account.
What is worth checking before you stay: who owns the account, whether the domain belongs to the restaurant or to the plan, and what happens to the menu if you stop paying. Those three answers are in the account panel, not in a ranking of tools.
WordPress fits when there is already a theme, hosting and someone who maintains it
WordPress fits if the restaurant already has a theme, hosting and a person who updates the menu and the plugins. The SERP for “diseño web wordpress restaurantes” on 12 September 2026 is full of templates and tutorials, not of an agency verdict. Whoever lands there is looking for a theme. Whoever already has the website built is looking for something else: that the menu is not a PDF, that the booking does not send people to another brand and that the site stays up when a price changes.
Staying on WordPress makes sense when the venue is already there and the maintenance has an owner. Starting by installing a restaurant theme, because a listicle puts it first, is the path of someone who is going to build it alone. The two sentences look alike and they are not the same commission.
Before redoing it, look at three things in the installation you already have: whether the domain and the hosting are in the restaurant’s name, whether the team can change a dish without touching code, and whether the booking opens on your domain. If all three come out well, the next step is to improve that website, not to change the logo.
If the website is born from scratch, the commission does not start with a builder
If there is no website, or the one there is does not show the menu or let people book, the decision is not “Wix or WordPress”. It is what the page has to do in the first month: say where the venue is, open the menu on a phone and leave a booking on the same domain.
At GastroSEO, when the project is born from scratch, the website is built with Astro. If the restaurant already has Wix or WordPress and that website works, we work on it: the menu, the booking and the Google listing are put in order without forcing a move. There is no catalogue sentence that bans WordPress. The starting point decides.
The price of that new website, if GastroSEO builds it, is on web design for restaurants: Web Esencial 890 €, Web Profesional 1.490 € and Web Premium Gastro 2.490 €, all three as a one-off payment. The range for doing it yourself with a builder, and the sources of that range, are in how much a restaurant website costs. This guide does not repeat those rates or update them: we have not opened the Wix or theme price pages again.
The menu, the booking and the domain decide more than the name of the tool
The platform shows in four tasks at the venue. The table does not put a price on Wix or on WordPress: on 24 September 2026 there is no verified rate in this piece.
| Starting point | What is done | Where the menu ends up | What happens with the booking |
|---|---|---|---|
| Already on Wix and the team edits it | Work on that account | On the site you already have, if the menu is a page and not a loose file | On the same domain, or the engine you already use is linked |
| Already on WordPress, with hosting and maintenance | Work on that installation | On a page in the theme, not in a PDF | On the same domain |
| The website is born from scratch | It is built with Astro, on the catalogue plan | On your domain, inside the plan | On your domain; the external engine, if there is one, does not replace the page |
| There is only a theme or a template still to be set up | That is doing it yourself | It depends on what the person who installs it builds | It depends on what the person who installs it builds |
The system of the page (menu, booking and listing) is in what makes a restaurant website successful. The menu as a page, and not as a PDF or as someone else’s tool, is in a QR digital menu for restaurants. The booking is in online bookings for restaurants.
What the top of those searches does not tell you
The theme listicle answers “which template do I install”. The builder’s page answers “open an account here”. Neither of them says this, which is what changes the commission:
- Stay where you already are when the account is yours, the team edits the menu and the booking does not take you off the domain.
- Do not open a new account only because the AI summary names Wix next to an agency. That citation is from the snapshot of 12 September 2026. It is not an audit of your venue.
- Do not treat a free theme as if it were the restaurant’s website. In the WordPress SERP the first archived result is a template listicle. The template does not bring the menu written, or the domain in your name, or the person who is going to update it in August.
- Separate the price of the tool from the price of the website. GastroSEO’s plans are the ones in the catalogue. The fee for Wix, for a theme or for hosting, if you contract it, is yours with that provider.
The next step is the plan, with the price already published
If the website is born from scratch, the plan and the price are on web design for restaurants. If you already have Wix or WordPress and you want us to review it on what is there, the same service is the place to ask: there is no different product and no parallel price. The whole catalogue is at the gastronomic marketing agency.
Frequently asked questions
Wix or WordPress for a restaurant?
It depends on where the website is today. If it is already on Wix and the team updates it, the work is done on Wix. If it is already on WordPress, with hosting and someone who maintains it, the work is done on WordPress. If the page is born from scratch, at GastroSEO it is built with Astro. The SERP of 12 September 2026 does not sort those three starting points: it mixes the Wix page, the theme tutorials and the agency pages.
Do I have to leave Wix if the restaurant’s website is already there?
Not because it is Wix. You do need to look at whether the menu can be read on a phone, whether you book on your domain and whether the account and the domain are in the venue’s name. If that holds, the work continues on that account.
Is WordPress the default option because there are restaurant templates?
Templates dominate the search “diseño web wordpress restaurantes” in the snapshot of 12 September 2026: themes, WordPress.org, Envato, videos and Reddit. That describes someone who is going to set it up alone. Whoever already has WordPress running does not need a new theme in order to decide: they need to know whether the menu, the booking and the hosting have an owner.
How much does the website cost if I use neither Wix nor WordPress?
At GastroSEO, a website born from scratch has three one-off plans: 890 €, 1.490 € and 2.490 €. The detail is on web design for restaurants. The range for a builder set up by the venue itself is in the pricing guide, with that guide’s sources. There is no new Wix or WordPress rate here.
Why does this guide not state searches per month?
Because on 24 September 2026 the volumes API returned no data. Publishing a round figure would be inventing it. The intent has been read: the SERP archive of 12 September 2026, on the queries for a restaurant website, for restaurant web design and for web design with WordPress.
