An online shop for food businesses: Shopify, gift vouchers and payment up front
An online shop for food businesses on Shopify from 1.790 €: gift vouchers, wine, gourmet products and payment up front. Fixed prices and an account in your name.
The real challenge of online food shop
An online shop for food businesses is a direct sales channel for physical products, gift vouchers, packs or booking deposits. We build it on Shopify, in your account and in your name, from 1.790 € in 2-3 weeks. It is not a delivery app: it is for selling and taking payment before you serve.
What you get
The Shopify account, domain and payment gateways are in your name; everything the shop takes goes to your accounts.
Gift vouchers and tasting menus as products with no stock, no shipping and payment up front.
Fixed prices from 1.790 €: you know what each plan includes before you start.
Product structured data and on-page SEO on the Complete and Local Launch plans.
Training included, from 1 to 2 hours, and an agreed number of revision rounds.
No lock-in on local SEO and no hidden fees; the platform and transaction fees are paid directly.
How we work
The same method on every hospitality project. Clear milestones and a deliverable at each stage.
We define what you will sell (physical products, vouchers, packs or deposits) and which gateway fits: Shopify Payments, Stripe, Redsys/Bizum or a crypto option.
We create the account in your name and set up the theme, products, collections, shipping, taxes, legal pages and domain.
We switch on the gateway, place test orders, connect GA4 and Search Console, and check the automatic emails.
We show you how to manage orders and the catalogue, apply the revision rounds and hand over the shop in 2-5 weeks depending on the plan.
Who this service is for
What an online food shop is, and who it is for
An online shop for food businesses is a direct sales channel with payment up front for physical gourmet products, wine, packs, gift vouchers, tasting menus or booking deposits. It is not a delivery app or delivery software. If your business has something to sell or to charge before you serve, the shop makes sense.
It fits gourmet shops, wineries, bakeries, pastry shops that ship, caterers with scheduled orders and restaurants that want to sell giftable experiences. The catalogue can be small: you can start with ten well-worked products. Wine or coffee subscriptions also fit if the shipping logistics are sorted. What it should not be is a takeaway food order with immediate delivery; that problem is logistical and is solved with an ordering system, not with an ecommerce store.
For anyone who already has a restaurant website, the shop can sit alongside the menu and bookings; for a bakery or pastry shop that ships or a catering company, it can be the main channel.
A gourmet shop of preserves and wine
Products with tasting notes, gift packs and mainland Spain shipping. We set up collections, weight and shipping costs, Spanish taxes and the payment gateway. The client supplies the photos; we direct the editing and build the product pages to sell.
The difference from a takeaway ordering system is fundamental: here payment is taken up front and the product is prepared or shipped afterwards. That is why Shopify fits: it is built to sell product, not to manage riders.
Why Shopify for selling food products
Shopify is the platform we use to build product shops because it brings together the catalogue, payments, shipping and taxes, and because the account stays in the client's name. We do not rent you a shop: we create it in your account, with your domain and your payment gateways. If one day you want to change agency, the shop goes with you.

According to the Shopify Spain pricing page, checked on 12 September 2026, the Basic plan costs 32 € a month and the fee with Shopify Payments is 2,1 % + 0,30 € per online transaction. The platform already includes an order dashboard, shipping, tax calculation and an integrated gateway. You do not have to stitch external modules together to start.
When NOT to use Shopify: if you are only going to sell one gift voucher or take a booking deposit now and then, a custom website with Stripe Payment Links does the same job without a monthly fee. In that case, our web design for restaurants is usually the cleaner option.
A bakery that sells and takes payment online before it prepares
For a bakery or a kitchen that delivers in its area, the Shopify store handles the order and the direct payment; the business controls delivery with its own means or with route software. We do not promise riders or logistics: only direct sales before you prepare.
Because the account is in the client's name, payment, customer and order information is theirs from day one. We do not intermediate payments: we neither touch the money nor hold it.
What each plan includes
The three plans on this page have a fixed price and a one-off payment. The Essential Shop plan costs 1.790 € and includes up to 10 products, a configured gateway, shipping, taxes, legal pages, a connected domain, Google Analytics 4, Search Console, 1 hour of training and 2 revision rounds. It is delivered in 2-3 weeks.
The Complete Shop costs 2.990 € and extends to 40 products with pages written to sell, collections and packs, gift vouchers and tasting menus as products, discount codes, automatic abandoned-cart and confirmation emails, Bizum integration if the gateway allows it, on-page SEO for categories and products, Product structured data, 3 revision rounds and 2 hours of training. It is delivered in 3-5 weeks.
Shop + Local Launch costs 3.990 € and adds to the Complete Shop a local SEO audit, 3 months of SEO for food shops, product and area keyword research, a Google listing with products and posts, and monthly reports of organic sales, visits and positions. Photography is not included in any plan: we do art direction and editing of photos the client supplies; the shoot is hired separately. Branding and packaging can come first or run in parallel; product copywriting is already inside the Complete Shop.
The difference between plans is not only the number of products: the Complete Shop already includes conversion work, and Shop + Local Launch adds visibility on Google and on the business listing. In all three cases, the Shopify account, the domain and the payment accounts belong to the client. Platform fees and transaction fees are paid directly to Shopify, Stripe or the chosen gateway.
Payment gateways for hospitality: which to choose for each case
The gateway is chosen by the type of sale, not by fashion. For a Shopify product shop, Shopify Payments is the direct option; for gift vouchers, booking deposits or one-off sales on your own website, Stripe Payment Links; and if you already have a card terminal with your bank, Redsys and Bizum can be integrated. All figures are those published by each provider on 12 September 2026.
| Gateway | Official fee | Which case it fits |
|---|---|---|
| Shopify Payments | 2,1 % + 0,30 € on the Basic plan (1,8 % + 0,30 € on Grow, 1,6 % + 0,30 € on Advanced); surcharge for an external gateway of 2 % on Basic, 1 % on Grow and 0,6 % on Advanced | A Shopify shop for physical products, packs and vouchers |
| Stripe | 1,5 % + 0,25 € with a European card; Payment Links at no extra cost; no published monthly fee | Gift vouchers, booking deposits and one-off sales on your own website |
| Redsys and Bizum | No single published fee: it depends on the contract with your bank (PayComet publishes "% Bizum according to the bank + 0,09 €") | Domestic payments when you already have a bank card terminal |
We compare these and other gateways (Polar, NOWPayments) in depth, case by case, in payment gateways for restaurants and gourmet shops. Sources: Shopify Spain, Stripe Spain and PayComet, checked on 12 September 2026.
Gift vouchers and tasting menus online: selling with no stock and payment up front
A gift voucher is paid before you serve, takes no stock and needs no shipping: that is why it is one of the easiest products to launch in a restaurant's shop. You sell it as one more product in the shop, at a fixed amount or for a tasting menu, and the customer receives a code or a PDF they can redeem. Someone looking for a gift goes straight to the restaurant's name, not to a generic area search: that visit has to land on your shop, not on a marketplace that takes a commission.

That is why the voucher shop should be linked from the restaurant website and from the Google Business Profile. If the listing does not show the purchase link, a marketplace with a commission takes the gift. For a restaurant with a menu website and bookings, the voucher can also be handled with Stripe Payment Links inside web design for restaurants.
A restaurant with a gift voucher and a tasting menu
On Shopify we set up one or more products of the "gift card" type: fixed amounts, validity, conditions and an automatic delivery email. The voucher is charged through Shopify Payments or Stripe, the money goes into the restaurant's account and redemption is controlled with the code. No stock, no shipping, no dependence on an external portal.
The Shopify version goes further if you also sell packs, bottles or gift boxes. In that case, the shop groups the voucher with the rest of the catalogue and uses the same shipping and tax rules. On Shop + Local Launch, the Google listing is set up with products and posts so the voucher is visible from a brand search.
Bookings with a deposit and payment up front, without friction
Some restaurants charge a deposit when a table is booked. We do not give legal advice (your adviser sets the specific conditions); what we do tell you is how to do it well in practice: inform people before charging, publish the cancellation policy and document every transaction. The deposit cuts no-show bookings and secures income up front. With Stripe Payment Links you generate a payment link and send it by email or WhatsApp, or embed it on the website.
A booking deposit without a complex gateway
For a restaurant that books tables, we create a Stripe payment link with a fixed or variable amount, connect it to the bookings page and show the cancellation policy before payment. The money goes into the business's account and the payment is recorded. A full shop is not needed for this case.
If you also want to sell vouchers or packs alongside the booking, the Shopify store brings it all together. If the booking is the only thing, a restaurant website with Stripe Payment Links is lighter. This shop does not manage home delivery: food orders with delivery use an integrated ordering system or specialist software.
Shopify, WooCommerce or a custom website with Stripe: which to choose
The choice depends on how much catalogue you will move and how much maintenance you want to take on. Shopify is the direct route for a product shop with shipping, taxes and payments built in; WooCommerce gives full control over WordPress but needs more maintenance; a custom website with Stripe Payment Links handles one-off sales with no monthly platform fee.
| Factor | Shopify | WooCommerce | Custom website + Stripe Payment Links |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ownership | The client's account | The client's installation and domain | The client's website and Stripe account |
| Technical maintenance | Managed by the platform | Hosting, plugins and updates on your side | Low; changes on the website |
| Fees | Shopify Payments fee according to the plan | The fee of the gateway you install | Stripe's fee per charge |
| Which case | A shop for physical products, packs and vouchers with a catalogue | An existing shop or a WordPress project with ecommerce | One-off sales: vouchers, deposits, bookings |
The comparison with WooCommerce is qualitative: its cost depends on the hosting and the plugins you choose. On WooCommerce, the domain and the hosting are yours, but plugin updates, security and backups are on you; that is why we do not recommend it for anyone who does not want technical maintenance. If you already have WooCommerce or Wix, we optimise what is there inside the Basic Plan of local SEO or we migrate to Shopify with the plans on this page.
How much an online food shop costs
Our plans run from 1.790 € to 3.990 € as a one-off payment. The Essential plan costs 1.790 € and is delivered in 2-3 weeks; the Complete plan, 2.990 €; Shop + Local Launch, 3.990 € and it includes three months of SEO for food shops. There is no lock-in and photography is hired separately.
According to GastroSEO's market research of 12 September 2026, a Madrid agency publishes its basic pack from 1.790 € and the complete pack from 2.490 €; a sector guide places a basic Shopify shop at 800-1.500 € and a professional one at 1.500-4.500 €. Our entry price matches the market, but the food scope is specific: gift vouchers, wine, bakeries and payment up front.
On top of the plans you have to add the recurring platform and gateway costs, which the client pays directly: the Shopify Basic plan from 32 € a month, according to the Shopify Spain pricing page checked on 12 September 2026, and fees per transaction. Recurring payments are not small: if you pay Shopify annually, Basic drops to 24 € a month. On top of that is the fee on each sale. The shop only makes sense if the margin on the product or the voucher absorbs it.
For a fixed quote, it is better to look at the cost of a restaurant website or talk to the agency. The shop is not a marketing cost with no return: it is a direct sales channel.
Choose the plan that fits your restaurant or other hospitality business
Three clear options, by the size and ambition of the business. They fit restaurants, pastry shops, bakeries, gourmet shops, food trucks, dark kitchens, catering, cooking schools and any other food business. Every plan includes a fully responsive design and direct support.
A Shopify store in your account, with your brand and ready to take payment. For starting to sell product without a large catalogue.
The shop ready to sell: a wide catalogue with copy that sells, packs, gift vouchers, discounts and automatic emails.
The Complete Shop with the audit and three months of local SEO for food shops, so the shop starts with traffic and not only a catalogue.
Common questions about online food shop
How much does it cost to build an online shop for a food business?
Our plans run from 1.790 € to 3.990 € as a one-off payment. The Essential Shop plan (1.790 €) includes up to 10 products, a payment gateway, shipping, taxes, legal pages, GA4 and training; it is delivered in 2-3 weeks. The Complete Shop (2.990 €) extends to 40 products and adds gift vouchers, automatic emails and on-page SEO. Shop + Local Launch (3.990 €) adds the audit and 3 months of local SEO. The platform and transaction fees are paid separately.
How much does Shopify charge to sell in Spain?
According to the Shopify Spain pricing page, checked on 12 September 2026, the Basic plan costs 32 € a month (24 € with annual billing) and the Shopify Payments fee is 2,1 % + 0,30 € per online transaction. The Grow plan costs 92 €/month (69 € annual) with 1,8 % + 0,30 €; Advanced, 384 €/month (289 € annual) with 1,6 % + 0,30 €. With an external gateway, Shopify adds a surcharge of 2 % on Basic, 1 % on Grow and 0,6 % on Advanced.
Can gift vouchers or tasting menus be sold from the restaurant website?
Yes. They are set up as a Shopify product or as a Stripe payment link and charged before you serve. The customer receives a code or a PDF to redeem. It is a product with no stock and no shipping. We recommend linking the purchase from the website and the Google Business Profile, because someone looking for a gift goes straight to the restaurant's name.
Is the shop mine or the agency's?
Yours. The Shopify account, the domain and the Stripe or Shopify Payments accounts are created in the client's name and with their details. GastroSEO sets up, designs and trains, but does not sit in the middle of payments: everything the shop takes goes to the business's accounts. If you change provider tomorrow, the shop and the domain go with you.
