We measure every site with PageSpeed Insights before delivery. The aim is for the main content to load in under 1.5 seconds on mobile, with no layout jump. Every second of waiting is someone who leaves before they see the menu.

Astro if we start from zero; WordPress or Wix if you already have a site

When the project starts from zero and we can choose, we build it with Astro: a static site served from a global CDN, the same kind of stack companies such as Stripe, Linear or Vercel use, without slow plugins or a database to maintain. Measured with PageSpeed: main content in under 1.5 seconds on mobile.

If the site already exists on WordPress or Wix and it should stay, we work on it, inside the Basic plan or as a project on the same plans: we improve it, extend it and connect bookings, a digital menu and the Google listing. The project picks the tool.

Not a pretty website. A machine for local bookings.

Why a restaurant website works or fails is explained, layer by layer, in our reference article on what makes a restaurant website successful.

Each page is built to rank for the searches people make within 2 km of the restaurant. Local SEO, structured data and conversion are in the code from line 1.

01

Hyperlocal SEO architecture

Clean URLs by neighbourhood, city and type of cuisine. Internal links towards your Google Business Profile. LocalBusiness + Restaurant + Menu + Review schema.

02

Built to convert

A Book button that stays visible, sticky on mobile. Click-to-call up front. The call to action follows the hour: lunch at midday, dinner at night. Conversion tracking with GA4 and Search Console.

03

Booking-system integration

CoverManager, TheFork, OpenTable or Tableo — we connect the native widget with no extra commission. Your own form if you do not want to depend on a platform. The price and commission comparison is in our article on online bookings for restaurants.

04

Mobile-first, for real

70% of bookings come from a phone. We design at 390px first and scale up. Every interaction is meant for one hand and 3 seconds of attention.

05

Digital menu with allergens

The 14 EU allergens, in line with Regulation 1169/2011. Filters by type (vegan, gluten-free and the rest). Updates in seconds from a simple panel, without touching code. The comparison of a free plan, your own menu and a platform is in our article on QR menus for restaurants.

06

Languages built in

Up to 5 languages, each with its own URL (/es/, /en/, /fr/...) and correct hreflang. Each language can rank on its own — 30% of foreign guests search in their language.

The real challenge of web design and websites for restaurants and hospitality

A restaurant website is the first impression a large share of your future customers get: they check it, almost always from their phone, before they decide whether to book, order delivery or walk in. If your site is slow, looks wrong on a phone, has no clear booking button or does not show an up-to-date menu, you are not losing "visits": you are losing real bookings every day. We design professional websites not only for restaurants — also for hotels, gastro bars, cafés, pastry shops, bakeries, bakery workshops, chocolate shops, gourmet stores, food trucks, dark kitchens, cooking schools, catering companies and professional chefs who sell their personal brand. Each page is built for one thing: turn visits into real bookings and rank on Google from day one.

Not only restaurants. We design for the whole food business.

Each kind of food business needs a different site. A pastry shop is not a dark kitchen, and the website should not pretend they are.

The 12 blocks a professional restaurant website needs

From hospitality websites we have settled on 12 blocks a professional site needs. Miss one and the site leaves money on the table every day.

01

A hero with a clear offer

In 5 seconds the visitor has to see what you are, where you are and why to choose you. A real photo of the signature dish, a direct headline and a Book a table button without scrolling.

02

A booking button that stays visible

A sticky button on mobile and desktop. It connects to CoverManager, TheFork, OpenTable, Tableo or your own form. Each extra click loses 20% of bookings.

03

A menu you can update

Not a PDF: real HTML with filters for allergens, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and spicy. You update it without touching code. Menu schema so Google can show it in the result.

04

A gallery of real dishes

Not generic stock photos. Professional photos of your real dishes, ready for the web (WebP, lazy loading, descriptive alt text). A good photo sells more than a line of copy.

05

Team and philosophy

The chef, the story, the product, the suppliers. That is what separates the restaurant from a chain. Google and guests reward something real — and so do AI models.

06

Map, address and how to get there

An embedded Google Map, an address that opens Maps on the phone, nearby parking, the metro or bus stop, access. LocalBusiness schema with the correct name, address and phone.

07

Real reviews on the page

A carousel of real reviews from Google, TripAdvisor or TheFork — not invented quotes. AggregateRating schema so the stars can show in the Google result.

08

Events and private hire

Groups, celebrations, birthdays, corporate events and company dinners get their own page and a proper form. For a typical restaurant that is one of the larger sources of revenue.

09

A local SEO blog

Posts that answer real searches: what to do on a Sunday in your neighbourhood, a tasting menu in your city, a local dish on your street. It is the SEO work that compounds over 6–12 months.

10

More than one language, when it matters

In tourist areas, English at a minimum — and French, German or Italian when the guests need it — doubles qualified traffic. A native translation, not a machine one. Google treats machine-translated pages as weak content.

11

WhatsApp and click-to-call

A floating WhatsApp button and a tap-to-call button on mobile. People want to ask before they book. The restaurant that answers fast on WhatsApp gets the booking.

12

A footer with the legal details and local SEO

Company details, tax ID, email, phone, the exact address, full hours, links to Google Maps, social profiles and the legal notice. It is not decoration — Google reads it as a trust signal.

8 mistakes that cost your current site bookings

If the site has any of these 8 problems, it is missing bookings every day. We see it on every Local SEO Audit Pro.

Loads in more than 4 seconds on mobile

A template site with extra plugins is often slow on 4G, and every second of waiting is someone who leaves before the menu. We build light and measure with PageSpeed before delivery: the aim is under 2 seconds.

It does not work on a phone

People look up a restaurant on the phone, often already on the way. If the menu is unreadable, the booking button needs a zoom or the map falls off the screen, that guest is gone.

The menu is a PDF

Google does not read it properly, phones are slow to open it and someone with an allergy cannot filter. The menu has to be HTML, updated by you, with Menu schema and diet filters.

The booking button is hidden or missing

A small booking button buried in the header hands the booking to someone else. It has to be large, always visible and connected to your booking system.

Stock photos or old photos

Visitors can tell a stock photo in under a second. Old or stock photos create distrust at once. A proper food photographer every 12–18 months is part of the site.

Spanish only in a tourist area

In central Madrid, Barcelona, Marbella, Mallorca, Ibiza, Valencia or any tourist area, a Spanish-only site cuts off 40–60% of the potential market. English at a minimum, French as well when the guests need it.

Reviews hidden or missing

Hiding real reviews wastes the strongest reason to book. They should be visible from the first scroll, with the guest photo and a link to the source.

No neighbourhood or street SEO

The site names the city and not the neighbourhood, the street, the metro stop or the landmark. That competes on national searches instead of the hyperlocal ones, where conversion is twice as high.

Book the Pro audit — 290 € →

Connected to the platforms you already use

The site is not an island. We connect the booking system, the payment method, delivery, the CRM and the marketing tools, without clumsy redirects or pop-ups. The guest books on your site, not on someone else’s.

What a restaurant website costs in 2026

In Spain, a restaurant website costs from about 300 € if you build it yourself with a template to more than 6,000 € if it includes a shop or custom ordering. A hospitality agency sits between 1,200 € and 4,000 €. Our sites, on their own, run from 890 € to 2,490 € with delivery in 2–4 weeks; the packs with local SEO, the Google listing or GEO go up to 3,890 €. The ranges come from public rates of agencies and platforms in the sector, checked in September 2026.

Common questions about web design and websites for restaurants and hospitality

How long will it take to see tangible results after the web design of my restaurant?

Usually, the first results in visibility and bookings start to show between 2 and 4 weeks after launch, especially if the web design is paired with a local SEO strategy. Ongoing optimisation, such as the work we do on our Basic GastroSEO Plan, settles those results over the medium term.

What makes your web design prices different from a generic agency?

Our prices reflect an exclusive focus on hospitality, with key features such as booking systems, digital menus and local SEO built in from the start. A generic agency might offer a low starting cost, but it will not have the sector experience that improves the return for your restaurant.

What makes GastroSEO web design different from a generalist web designer?

The difference is a deep knowledge of hospitality. We do not only make attractive sites: we make sites that work for restaurants, optimised for bookings, with menus that are easy to update, strong dish galleries and a focus on conversion. A generalist does not understand those details, and they matter to the success of your business.

What information or materials should I prepare before we start the web design of my restaurant?

We will need your menu, high-quality photos of dishes and the venue, your logo, contact details, hours and any booking system you use. It also helps to know your audience and your signature dishes, so the design lines up with your offer.

What does your web design service for restaurants include, and what does it not include?

The service includes responsive design, booking-system integration, an editable digital menu, an image gallery, a contact form and basic SEO. It does not include writing the copy (although we can advise) or social media management, which are separate services.

How do you measure the success of my restaurant's new website?

We measure success through specific KPIs: more direct bookings, more website traffic (especially local), time on the page, bounce rate and conversions on the digital menu. These figures are reviewed monthly so the site keeps serving its commercial goals.

How much does a professional restaurant website cost?

At GastroSEO we offer three closed plans with no surprises: Essential Website 890€ (a one-page site ready in 2 weeks for restaurants that are starting), Professional Website 1.490€ (the middle option: multi-page, with bookings + 2 languages + an SEO blog) and Gastro Premium Website 2.490€ (multilingual, an online shop for gourmet products or gift vouchers, multi-brand or multi-location). Every plan includes the domain, hosting for the first year, basic on-page SEO and a final training session.

Which online booking integrations does your restaurant website support?

We integrate natively with CoverManager, TheFork, OpenTable and Tableo, the 4 booking systems most used in Spain. If you use another (CovermanagerPRO, Resy, Restoo, Bookline or your own form), we connect that too. The integration is direct, with no odd redirects: the customer books without leaving your site, which raises the conversion rate compared with pages that send the user to an external platform.

What if my restaurant needs a website in several languages (Spanish, English, French)?

It is one of our strengths. The Professional Website plan includes 2 native languages (not machine translation: the copy is rewritten by a native hospitality copywriter). The Gastro Premium plan includes up to 5 languages. This matters if you work in tourist areas such as central Madrid, Barcelona, Marbella, Mallorca, Ibiza, San Sebastián or the Canary Islands, where up to 60% of searches for "restaurant near me" come from foreign visitors whose browser is in another language.

How long does Google take to rank a new restaurant website?

For very local keywords such as "restaurant in [your neighbourhood]" you start to appear in 2–4 weeks. For more competitive keywords such as "Japanese restaurant in [city]" it usually takes 3–6 months of continuous SEO work. That is why we deliver the whole site optimised for SEO from day one (Restaurant + Menu + LocalBusiness schema, sitemap.xml, meta tags, speed under 2 seconds, Core Web Vitals in the green) and we recommend pairing it with our monthly GastroSEO Plan at 350€ to speed up the ranking.

Is a website of your own better than Wix, Squarespace, Webnode or a free WordPress template?

It depends on where you start. A site built for hospitality wins on four things. (1) Speed: it is built without extra themes or plugins, and it is measured on a phone before delivery. (2) SEO: it carries Restaurant and Menu schema, the data Google uses to show your menu and hours in the result. (3) Customisation: your restaurant does not have to fit a template mould. (4) Ownership: the domain, the hosting and the code are yours. And if you already have a site on WordPress or Wix and it works, we also work on it: we optimise it and connect it to bookings, a digital menu and the Google listing.

Do you also design websites for cooking schools, caterers or bakeries?

Yes. They are three of our main niches. For cooking schools we design sites with a course calendar, online enrolment, teacher profiles and an educational blog. For caterers we build sites with an online quote, an availability calendar, an event gallery and qualified forms (B2B and B2C). For bakeries and pastry shops we design visual catalogues, a pre-order system for key dates (Epiphany, Christmas, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day) and bread subscriptions.
