A website for restaurants in Alicante: professional design, local SEO and built-in bookings
The province of Alicante counted 14.084 food and drink premises on 1 January 2025, just behind Valencia (14.565) and far from Castellón (3.847). The Comunitat received 12.413.952 international tourists that year. On the menu, Valencian is the language of the region and co-official, and using it in a private restaurant is a brand decision: the law encourages it and does not impose it.
The site’s SEO is written for your neighbourhood in Alicante
El Barrio, the centre or San Juan beach show up in searches under their own names, and the website has to name them. There is no count of CNAE 56 premises by neighbourhood or by municipality: the solid figure is the provincial one, 14.084 premises on 1 January 2025.
Alicante has 14.084 food and drink premises, and Valencia is just ahead
On 1 January 2025 CNAE 56 premises were 14.565 in the province of Valencia, 14.084 in Alicante and 3.847 in Castellón: 32.496 in the Comunitat. A website in the city of Alicante competes in a coastal province almost the same size as that of Valencia. Source: INE, DIRCE, table 301.
In companies, the Comunitat Valenciana had 27.915 in CNAE 56 (11,9 % of the 234.900 in Spain): 10.155 restaurants and food stands, 1.950 in catering and other food service, and 15.810 drinking establishments. Accommodation added 2.370 companies. Source: table 39372.
Commercial directories publish other counts of establishments in Alicante. The brief separates them from the INE and does not use them as official statistics. This page stays with table 301 and table 39372. The municipal directory does not isolate CNAE 56, so 14.084 is not the census of the city. Source: table 4721.
The tourist calendar that is published is that of the Comunitat, not of the municipality
The FRONTUR table sets 12.413.952 international tourists with main destination in the Comunitat Valenciana in 2025, 4,19 % more than the 11.914.970 of 2024 and above the 10.474.167 of 2023. That is 12,8 % of the national total. The provisional press note spoke of 12,4 million (+4,3 %). Sources: table 23988 and the note of 3 February 2026.
In hotels, 2025 totalled 10.058.537 guests (+3,4 %) and 31.556.098 overnight stays (+1,6 % against 31.050.683). 52,5 % of overnight stays were by residents abroad. August weighed 12,9 % of the year and January 4,4 %; July and August, 24,7 %; from November to February, 21,2 %. In international arrivals the peak was August (1.536.393, 12,4 %) and the trough January (599.759, 4,8 %), a ratio of 2,6. July and August accounted for 24,4 % of arrivals and November to February for 22,1 %. Sources: table 61766 and table 75720.
That curve belongs to the Comunitat. The city of Alicante and the provincial coast sit inside it, and the brief does not publish a breakdown of arrivals for the municipality. Winter is still a long fifth of hotel nights: a website built only for August falls short.
Dénia, turrón and the Hogueras mark the year outside the August peak
Dénia, in the Marina Alta, has been a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy since 11 December 2015. It is a provincial fact, not a ranking of premises in the centre of Alicante. Source: Dénia, tenth anniversary of the recognition.
The Marina Baixa (Benidorm and 17 other municipalities, 198.888 inhabitants in the entry cited) appears on Wikipedia as a leading tourist destination in Spain. Benidorm had 77.327 inhabitants in 2025, has been a tourist destination since 1925 and was the first city certified UNE 178501 for Smart Tourism, in 2018. The same entry names the chocolate of Villajoyosa and the loquat of Callosa d'en Sarrià. Source: Wikipedia, Marina Baixa.
The Hogueras de San Juan, in Alicante, are associated with coca amb tonyina. The PDO Turrón de Jijona and Turrón de Alicante is recognised by the Regulation of 23 April 1996, with the regulatory council in Jijona, and Xixona holds the Fira de Nadal every December. The DO Alicante includes Fondillón, the historic aged wine. The PGI Cítricos Valencianos covers 83 municipalities in Alicante, within the 314 of the Comunitat. Valencian on the menu is voluntary, in Alicante too
Valencian has been the language of the region, co-official with Spanish, since the Estatut of 1982. Law 4/1983 recognises the right to use it in professional and commercial activity, with full effect and without a translation requirement (article 17). Article 33 says that the public authorities shall encourage that use. Offering the menu in Valencian is a brand decision. That law does not contain the bilingual-menu obligation that does exist in Catalonia. Source: BOE, Law 4/1983.
With 52,5 % of hotel overnight stays by foreign residents in the Comunitat, English and the languages of the source markets come from the visitor profile, not from a second legal obligation.
