The Fallas open the calendar in March, and the rice has a designation in the Albufera
The Fallas run from 1 to 19 March, with the crida on the last Sunday of February. They have been Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity since November 2016 and gather more than a million people on the Nit del Foc. It is the city peak that does not fit on the August curve. The DOP Arroz de Valencia covers the Bomba, Sénia and Bahía varieties of the Albufera, the Marjal de Pego-Oliva and the Marjal de Almenara, around 20 % of national production. The regulatory council is in Sueca. The ratification order is dated 27 June 2001 (BOE-A-2001-13609). Firarròs, the rice fair in Sueca, held its XI edition from 11 to 13 September 2026, alongside the Concurso Internacional de Paella Valenciana. The DO Chufa de Valencia, of 25 September 1995, covers 16 municipalities of l'Horta Nord and sends almost the whole harvest to horchata. Fideuà was born in Gandía, in the Safor, in the years 50, not in the old town of Valencia. If a restaurant in the city serves it, the origin that can be told is that one. The rice-growing area of l'Horta and the Albufera is documented from the Llibre del Repartiment of 1238.
Valencian on the menu is a right of whoever runs the venue, not a signage obligation
Valencian has been the language of the region and co-official with Spanish since the Estatut of 1982. Law 4/1983, on the use and teaching of Valencian, recognises the right to use it in professional and commercial activity, with full effect and without a translation requirement (article 17). Article 33 says that the public authorities shall encourage that use. The joint reading of the two articles, in the consolidated text of the BOE, is that offering the menu in Valencian is a brand decision. That law does not contain the bilingual-menu obligation that does exist in Catalonia. Source: BOE, Law 4/1983.
With 52,5 % of hotel overnight stays by foreigners and with the United Kingdom and France as the leading markets, English and French come from the visitor profile, not from a co-official language.
